Fresh Tulips !!! Order Now

1000 Tulips!

The big scale out experiment has begun... 1000 tulip bulbs are in the ground! And YES WE ARE TAKING ORDERS!  Expect first long stems in April! January days are gorgeous in Bonny Doon!                Truck loaded with Tulip bulbs from holland farms! Harvesting gladiolus and other bulbs from last year.  Tulip bulbs going in..  All done!!! only 36 did not fit :) Now... water every day .. keep the weeds out.. and keep fingers crossed for no ingenious Gophers!

First Crop!! It works :)

Year 1 of experimenting bore fruit... or rather FLOWERS! :) We planted a wide variety to see what works best for the weather/soil etc. ..  Fully automated irrigation... and 4 weeks later...  Got to love california... EVERYTHING bloomed! :) Next step... learn the right crop cycles. (But first.. refocus on fire safety.. and keep our fingers crossed)

Big issues in little farms

Bad John Deere...  After only 300 feet of trenching, the welding on the piston broke! And of course it was 2 months past the 1 year warranty :P And then just as we got done paying that bill..  the Flail mower broke spectacularly ... the Shaft broke! it almost felt like it hit "resonance" at 490 rpm and then just cracked!  ... Now are in high fire season without a flail mower :( So attempting getting to fire safe on the meadow with just a box blade... it works ..but takes 3X the time ! Before  After!!

Irrigation!

Started big irrigation project to get water to the flower beds. Needed to dig 250 feet of trench about 2 feet deep for a 2" water line Not quite "all in a days work" ... that took 3 days!  Birds Eye View of the trench...   see if you can spot a deer. just a spec left of the big tree. Pressure looks good! And Voila! Now on to the last part.. right turn, and get the lines to each flower bed. In the meantime... nature is is doing its own thing all by herself :)
